Welcome to the amazingly well kept secret of Malta!
Malta has everything from extreme sports and wild nightlife to rich cultural treasures and dramatic scenery.
Visit the jaw dropping beauty of St John's Cathedral and a world class winery on one day and then go diving on some of the best naval wrecks in the world the next day.
Its unique location also means that there is no quicker way to get to the sun and no better way to top up your tan.
The geography of the Mediterranean is such that, Malta is nearer the equator than the coasts of Morocco and Tunisia. As it is almost due south of the UK it takes less time to get to than short haul destinations like Turkey and Cyprus. This means it is perfect for a quick getaway.
Far from being a sleepy island Malta has a fantastic Mediterranean spirit with fantastic nightlife.....
DJs visit from around the globe often performing in St Julian. Elsewhere, as a Catholic country Malta is home to some of the most spectacular religious festivals and fiestas in the world. There are plenty of fabulous events through the year including international food, firework and jazz festivals. There are wonderful cultural sights to see including spectacular churches, artwork, museums and historic military sites.
The cultural influences range from British to Southern European......
British post-boxes, Romanesque soldiers and Greek fishing boats are just a few examples of the blend of cultures that this Mediterranean meeting point enjoys. Modern cities with stunning luxury hotels melt into beautiful countryside with the most welcoming of local people.
For the more energetic visitors there is an abundance of sporting activities from the relaxing to the outright extreme...
The diving is world class mainly due to the number of World War II battles that took place in the waters and skies surrounding Malta. It has created a fascinating wreck environment for both novice and expert divers.
The Maltese archipelago lies at the centre of the Mediterranean, 93 km south of Sicily and 288 km north of Africa. It comprises three islands: Malta, Gozo and Comino.
With clear waters and rocky scenery the islands are very good for diving. Indeed, two of her dive sites are amongst the best in Europe: namely the Blue Hole in Gozo and Cirkewwa in Malta.
There are over 80 ship and aircraft wrecks in Maltese waters, about 15 of which are regularly dived.
You can dive in Malta throughout the year. January and February are the coldest months, but air temperatures even then average 13oC with the water being around 16oC. The warmest months for diving are from June to November, when water temperatures range from 20oC to a maximum of 26oC in August.
